3 questions to ask yourself when buying a mobility scooter
A mobility scooter helps you get around when out of the house. It gives you that much-needed freedom. But once you have made the decision to buy one, what type of mobility scooter do you choose? Well, below we share three questions you should ask yourself before buying a mobility scooter.
Your journey and terrain
One consideration is where you plan to go in your scooter and what the terrain is like. If you plan to travel on the pavement, such as going to the local shops, then a Class 2 mobility scooter is perfect. If your local area is hilly, features rough terrain and you need to go on the road, then you’ll need a Class 3 mobility scooter.
Where will you store your mobility scooter?
This is a good question to ask. Can it be stored outside in a dry place? Does it have a removable battery so that it can be stored outside the home? Will the scooter be able to fit through the front door? Is there enough room in your hallway? It’s a good idea to measure your chosen scooter and the route and room in which it is to be stored.
Your size and weight
It’s important that you choose a mobility scooter that is suitable for your size and weight, not only for practicality and comfort, but also to ensure its safe working of the scooter. Smaller size scooters tend to hold a maximum weight of 20 stone, 130kg.
